The Coast is Clear to Prime Property in Amalfi

Independent real estate and restoration agency, Italian Property (http://www.italianproperty.eu.com), is expanding its network to cover one of Europes most celebrated coastlines - Amalfi.

The dramatic peninsula, south of Naples, is notorious for house prices as breathtaking as the views, where property often only changes hands privately, driven by local word of mouth. Italian Property\'s move into the region will open up this market to both native and overseas clients, and the agency has already acquired some exclusive Costiera Amalfitana addresses - from luxury villas with private access to the sea, to a converted 15th century convent.

Jason Jones, managing director, says: \"Amalfi\'s dramatic landscape, with its tightly packed towns clinging to the cliffs, limits new building and makes existing properties very desirable - and less vulnerable to any downward pressure on prices. Italian Property\'s portfolio spans all the coasts glamorous destinations, from postcard-perfect Positano and jet-set Capri, to hill-top retreats around Ravello and, of course, Amalfi itself.\"

The Amalfi coast was discovered by the first Grand Tourists nearly two centuries ago, and its shores have been a magnet for artists, writers, composers and film stars ever since. Its stunning towns and spectacular views have inspired JMW Turner, DH Lawrence and Richard Wagner, and drawn a roll call of silver screen divas, from Greta Garbo and Sophia Loren to Angelina Jolie.

Today it is still the definitive romantic getaway, and its idyllic coastline remains relatively unspoilt. Visitors can drive the serpentine coast road and swim from the little coves that dot the cliffs, trek through the olive groves and lemon trees of the Lattari mountains or wander streets that haven\'t changed in a millennium.

Luxury yachts rub shoulders with working fishing vessels and, in the towns, trendy boutiques sit side-by-side traditional trattorias and shops selling local specialities such as handmade paper and limoncello.

Villa Antares, a prestigious villa in the village of Vettica, five minutes from Amalfi, is a prime example of the exclusive real estate secured by the company. Spilt over two levels, the house has seven bedrooms, all en-suite, a large living space with floor to ceiling windows - to give an uninterrupted view of the sea - a professionally equipped kitchen and a cocktail bar.

Outside space includes an organic garden, a dining terrace, a graceful gazebo seating area, a solarium and jacuzzi. Villa Antares also has a garage, private access to the sea and a small private jetty. Simply but elegantly furnished throughout, it is the epitome of chic Italian living. The property is on the market for €9.3m.

Other available properties include a luxury villa, complete with motorboat, on the island of Capri, a hilltop house with panoramic terrace near Positano, and a partially restored property with ruins ripe for renovation near Ravello one of the few remaining examples of this type in the area. Prices start at €1.6m.

High-resolution images of Villa Antares are available, and Italian Property\'s full Amalfi portfolio can be seen at http://www.italianproperty.eu.com/search/amalficoast/7/0/
